Impact 2010

New Learning Culture Research Launched at IMPACT 2010

New Learning Culture Research Launched at IMPACT 2010For the last two years, we’ve introduced important new research at IMPACT. This year will be no exception. In addition to new research on talent acquisition and high-impact HR organizations, we will also be revealing research findings on organizational learning cultures.

The research examines how learning culture directly affects business outcomes and which elements are of greatest influence. The study also identifies ways to ensure that an organization’s culture supports and increases business success, rather than operating as an obstacle. Following are a few research highlights:

  • Learning culture directly impacts the business. Survey data shows that the strength of an organization’s learning culture is the single greatest predictor of business impact. In fact, learning culture has two to three times greater impact than any other single dimension.
  • Organizations with strong learning cultures are more successful today and better prepared for success tomorrow. Research shows that while many organizations have productive employees, 96% of organizations with strong learning cultures have highly productive workforces. And organizations with a strong learning culture are 61% more successful at adding skills fast enough to meet tomorrow’s needs.
  • Learning cultures are highly customized to the business. Every organization is different and has its own unique circumstances, goals, and objectives. Therefore, while there are common practices, each organization’s culture will be unique.
  • Fundamental is a belief in the power of learning. High-impact learning cultures share these practices: reward and recognize gaining new knowledge or skills; prioritize time for learning; provide learning opportunities; and encourage employees to take ownership of personal development.

Be sure to join us for IMPACT 2010: The Business of Talent®, April 6-8, where David Mallon will present additional findings from this exciting new research study and delve into what truly defines a strong learning culture. View the session description today for additional information.

IMPACT 2010: New Customer Experience Panels

IMPACT 2010: New Customer Experience PanelsThis year we’re introducing new panel sessions highlighting actual customer experiences in talent management systems, talent acquisition systems, and outsourcing. These analyst-facilitated discussions will provide you with the details and recommendations – straight from the customers themselves.

  • Customer Experiences in Outsourcing. In this session, panelists will share best practices in partnering with outsourcing solution providers and ensuring tangible business benefits from the relationships. Participants in this panel discussion include: Tom Clancy, vice president, Educational Services, EMC; Jenni Radtke, senior director, Global Learning Operations, Phillips; and Julie Holmes, training director, Reynolds, Smith & Hills.
  • Customer Experiences in Talent Acquisition Systems. The talent acquisition technology market is one of dramatic change and innovation. During both strong and weak economies, investment in talent acquisition systems remains a priority for best-practice companies looking to gain a competitive advantage and secure a solid talent pipeline of both active and passive candidates. Panel participants include: Theresa Valentine, recruiting operations lead, Aetna; Jerod Funke, senior global recruitment director, Shire Pharmaceuticals; and Jim Wahl, talent acquisition manager, 7-Eleven.
  • Customer Experiences in Talent Management Systems. Organizations are finally embracing integrated talent management systems to improve business performance, talent development, and organizational alignment. In this session, participants will address the key challenges and strategic actions – and provide real-world insights into the best practices for the selection, implementation and business impact of such systems. Panelists include: Jamie Parsons, vice president and CHRO, Mountain State Health Alliance; and Susan Swoboda, senior director, Global HR Operations, Symmetricom.

Our conference agenda also features practitioner panels on sales training successes, best practices for performance management, experiential learning for leadership development, fostering talent mobility, and more. Counting Down to IMPACT!

Josh Bersin
President

IMPACT 2010 will be our third research conference. I’m confident that this year’s conference will be unparalleled in content and quality – and I guarantee it will l be fun, inspiring, and thought-provoking.

Our conference is designed to connect people in our industry and research community in an intimate and informal setting. Leading practitioners we’ve met through our own networking come to share lessons learned and best practices – during sessions, in the Demo Center, even poolside.

Attending our conference are some of the brightest minds in corporate learning and talent management. We’ll be joined by pioneers and thought leaders like Dr. Kim Armstrong of The Boeing Company, William Danskin of AT&T, Liviu Dedes of ARAMARK North America, and Roald Steen Jakobsen of Vestas Wind Systems. Our speakers are leaders in training, leadership development, systems, and talent acquisition from companies like General Electric, EMC, Redwood Trust, GlaxoSmithKline, Agilent, and more.

Another exciting aspect of IMPACT 2010 are the keynote presentations. Ted Hoff, vice president, Center for Learning and Development at IBM and Don Vanthournout, CLO at Accenture, will share their experiences in managing employee talent to greatest business advantage, and training a workforce through deep specialization. These executives – of two of the largest talent organizations world-wide – will give insight into what has worked for them.

In my keynote, New Imperatives for Learning and HR, I’ll discuss workforce trends, their likely business impact, and the organizational and individual changes that will be required of learning and HR to support the new work world.

IMPACT 2010 is truly the richest conference experience on the market. You’ll leave us with a knowledge that will continue to bring value long after you return home. If you must select only one industry event to attend in 2010, make it this one.

I hope to see you in Florida!
